The PIONEER Data Trust Committee (DTC) is a group of patients and members of the public who help decide whether requests to use PIONEER data are appropriate and beneficial to the public. The Committee was established in August 2020 to ensure that patient data is only used in ways that serve the public interest.
Every request to access PIONEER data is reviewed by the DTC before any researcher or organisation can be granted access. Committee members use their personal experiences, perspectives, and independent judgement to carefully consider each request, following the rules and principles set out in the PIONEER protocol.
While the DTC is not legally responsible for data-sharing decisions, its role is an important safeguard. If the Committee does not support a request, access to the data will not be granted. This helps ensure that patient interests remain at the heart of decision-making and supports public trust in how PIONEER data is used.
